Account
Used in
pacs.002 (reject or status report), pacs.004 (return of funds), camt.029 (answer to a recall)
What to do when you receive AC04
- Stop retrying: the account will not reopen. Ask the customer for new details.
- For direct debits, stop collecting on the mandate until the debtor gives a new account.
- In a camt.029 it means the recall failed because the beneficiary closed the account after it was credited.
In SEPA
Some SEPA banks report MS03 instead of AC04 for data-protection reasons, so a missing AC04 does not prove the account is open.
