PayPal USD
Overview
PYUSD is PayPal’s dollar stablecoin, issued by Paxos — under its NYDFS trust charter from launch, and as an OCC-supervised national trust bank since Paxos converted on 12 December 2025. It started as a consumer wallet asset inside PayPal/Venmo but its significance for payment engineers is the settlement side: it is one of the few coins accepted for settlement by both Visa and Mastercard.
PayPal also offers PYUSD to merchants and for cross-border payments, so the same token appears in consumer, merchant, and network-settlement contexts.

In both networks’ settlement sets: added by Visa in July 2025 and by Mastercard in June 2026.

US dollar deposits, US Treasuries and cash equivalents held by Paxos Trust; monthly attestations.

Always verify contract addresses against the issuer’s official documentation before use — lookalike tokens with identical symbols are a common scam vector.
